In the wake of Hurricane Helene’s devastation, this year’s event carried an even deeper significance. The host also acknowledged the effect of Hurricane Helene, a storm that left many in Asheville struggling to rebuild. But amid the challenges, this event was a beacon of hope, reminding us of the strength within our community.

2025 Black Wall Street Legacy Award Winners & Honorees

🏆 HOMETOWN HERO AWARD: Joe Greene

Joe Greene has been a pillar of Asheville’s community for decades, dedicating his life to service. As a firefighter and mentor, he has led initiatives to support underserved youth and improve neighborhood safety. His courage and selflessness make him a true hometown hero.

🏆 EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR: Trina Jackson

A lifelong advocate for equitable education, Trina Jackson has spent over 15 years transforming classrooms into spaces of empowerment. Her innovative teaching methods and leadership in curriculum development have shaped the futures of countless students in Asheville.

🏆 OUTSTANDING NON-PROFIT AWARD: Umoja Health, Wellness, and Justice Collective

🏆 EMERGING YOUNG LEADER: Trinity Harper

At just 22 years old, Trinity Harper is leading a movement in environmental activism and youth engagement. She founded an initiative that educates young people about sustainability and organizes city-wide clean-up efforts, proving that leadership has no age limit.

🏆 OUTSTANDING ELDER: Phyllis Utley

🏆 BUSINESS TRAILBLAZER: Betty Young
